Shared Interest Groups

Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) (formerly known as Special Interest Groups) are groups of Osher members sharing common interests who meet on a regular basis to enjoy or share that mutual interest. Each SIG has a volunteer coordinator responsible for group activities and adherence to Osher guidelines.

SIGs are open to all Osher members. They are not intended to promote sales of services or products. All SIGs must comply with Osher at Dartmouth policies. Osher supports SIGs through promotion and scheduling space in our Court Street classrooms and meeting areas.

To join or establish a SIG, contact the Osher office at (603) 646-0154 or email osher@dartmouth.edu.

Crafting for Charity

ongoing
Crafting for Charity

Join us to make blankets, hats, or scarves for charity. The majority of our projects will go to The Upper Valley Haven. In the process expand your skills, try something new, make some new friends, and have fun being part of something bigger.

Since September of 2019, this SIG has created and donated scarves, cowls, baby and regular blankets, hats, mittens, and sets of matching hats and mittens. This SIG for members runs July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.

The Day Trippers

ongoing
The Day Trippers

The concept is simple: members get together to visit interesting destinations within a reasonable driving distance, share the experience, and have some fun along the way. Think museums, historic sites, gardens, local gems — the possibilities are endless, and the group will decide together!

The Digital Defence Circle: Outsmarting Scams and Hacks

ongoing
The Digital Defence Circle

Despite the proliferation of warnings about scams, it only takes a moment of distraction to be victimized. Modern "human hacking" uses sophisticated psychological triggers to bypass our better judgment. This group provides a supportive, non-judgmental space to share experiences, analyze real-world case studies, and build the practical "digital muscle memory" needed to protect ourselves and our families.

Grand Connections: A Grandparenting Circle

ongoing
grandparents with granddaughter

We will join together to create a warm and welcoming community where grandparents meet to share experiences, insights, and support around the joys and challenges of grandparenting. Whether you are a new grandparent, raising grandchildren, or navigating long-distance relationships, this group offers a safe space to exchange stories, learn new strategies, and celebrate the unique role grandparents play in family life. Each meeting features meaningful discussions on relevant topics, opportunities to ask questions, and the chance to connect with others who truly understand the joys and responsibilities of being a grandparent in today’s world.

This group will meet on Wednesdays from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM beginning October 15.
